A Great Approach To Piano Worship Chords And So Much More!

March 25th, 2009 No comments

Whether you’re looking to learn how to play piano worship chords or just get more familiar with chord-style piano playing, I can’t think of a better place to start than this excellent guide: “Professional Piano Chords for Everyday Pianists.”

Although it does start with VERY basic information about reading a melody line and the basic major and minor chords, it quickly and easily moves into more advanced chords by focusing on a single tune – “O Christmas Tree.” It’s really not a holiday or religious type of book, but this song has some nice chord progressions that make it easy to explain the chord concepts, and Bill does a great job of doing just that.

I had a bad experience in my piano education when I was 11. At a boarding school, they allowed me to take piano lessons for a year and said they would test me after that time. When I tried to play for 60 students and staff, I fell to pieces and failed the test, and they wouldn’t let me take lessons any more.

I realize this guide won’t help all my related psychological problems from that incident, but, you know, it is helping me find my way back to enjoying the piano again. I can’t seem to put it down and I’m really enjoying learning how to use base notes and apply chords to the example song – and any type of “lead sheet” (that’s a piece of music with just melody and chords, I’ve learned).

A friend of mine plays at church, and the piano worship chords I’ve seen either come straight from guitar music, or they require reading lots of sheet music. With my new skills, I feel confident I could walk in there, just look at melody and chords, and make a better sound than what the sheet music tells you to play!

Anyway, with such a phenomenal price and guarantee, this little gem of a guide is one of the best I’ve found. I certainly haven’t seen anything like this in the music stores lately.
